Bat Quest

Introduction
You are playing at school on Saturday and you see some boys who have found a bat and are trying to hurt it. You want them to stop because you know what they are doing is wrong. You tell them to leave the bat alone but they tell you that bats are bad and should be killed. What do you say next? Are bats really bad? 

Magically you freeze time. Now you must find out why bats are important so you can stop the boys.

During your bat quest you will need to find out as much as you can about bats so you can teach the boys why bats are good and should be left alone.

Evaluation 
When you have found the answers write a speech that you will give to the boys to get them to leave the bat alone.

Make sure your speech includes answers to all these questions: 

  1. Do bats eat anything that people don't like? 
  2. What desert plant could not live without bats?
  3. Are bats really mean?
  4. Do bats really carry Rabies?
  5. How many babies do bats usually have?

Conclusion
Now that you are finished go back to the place where the boys are trying to hurt the bat and read them your speech. If you have done a good job the boys should leave the bat alone.  Then turn your speech in to Mr. Mann to get credit.
