Course Description: 

Learn to use Digital Camera technology to create presentations for your classroom. Students must bring their own Digital Camera.

 

Course Materials: 

Digital camera and manual

 

Course Objective: 

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to take pictures with the digital camera, download them into the computer, modify them and use them with other applications.

 

Course Methods and Procedures: 

Students will be guided through a variety of hands-on activities that will give them the skills necessary to use a digital camera and the photographs taken with one.  To complete the credit hour, students will practice taking photos and printing them in different application programs.

Getting Started

            Identifying the parts

            Formatting a disk

            Basic operations:  playback and recording

Advanced operations

            How to change menu settings

            Various recordings

            Various playbacks

            Editing

Simple troubleshooting

Using photos in the computer

            Downloading photos

            Editing photos

            Saving photos to a file

            Retrieving saved photos

Ideas using digital photos in the classroom

Edit digital photos and graphics using Microsoft Image Composer and Microsoft Word.

 

Evaluation/Outside Project: 

Students will be graded on completion of all in-class practice activities and completion of 7 hours out of class practice activities. The outside project is a requirement described on page 7 of the Ottawa University catalog.
